HEDGE PLANTS

A "hedge" is a wall composed of plants. Some are purely decorative, while others serve primarily a practical function. Hedge plants used decoratively are often trimmed to precise sizes and shapes and include evergreen and deciduous shrubs. Such shrubs may also serve the practical function of affording a property some security.

SHRUBS

A shrub is defined as a woody plant which is smaller than a tree and generally has a rounded shape. The main difference between the two is that a shrub has several main stems growing from ground level, rather than one trunk. It will usually have a height less than 13 feet and stems no more than about three inches in diameter."

PERENNIALS

The term "perennial" refers to herbaceous “green" plants since woody plants, such as trees, are perennial by definition. Perennials generally do not have to be replanted each year. However, some homeowners choose to replace certain perennials every three to five years if they start to decline.

TROPICAL PLANTS

Tropical plants are plants which are native to the tropical regions of world. Thanks to the consistent climate conditions in the areas where these plants evolved, they have a number of very specific adaptations which make them very unique. Many people in tropical and subtropical regions like to use tropical plants in landscaping and they are also kept as houseplant.

GROUND COVERS

Perennial groundcovers are an indispensable part of any well designed garden providing colorful flowers and attractive foliage. Low growing ground cover plants are great for using as an alternative lawn (especially in shaded areas), filling spaces between flagstone or pavers, or for creating a “living mulch” that cools the ground and suppresses weed growth.

Ornamental Grasses

Ornamental Grasses are a large family of beautiful perennial plants that add texture, color and movement to the garden. Ornamental grasses, like conifers and other evergreens, also provide interest in the fall and winter landscape, especially when back-lit by morning or afternoon sun. When the flowers of summer are only a memory, you’ll find delight looking out on frosted ornamental grass spikes.

VINES

Vine, Plant whose stem requires support and that climbs by tendrils or twining or creeps along the ground, or the stem of such a plant. Examples include bittersweet, most grapes, some honeysuckles, ivy, lianas, and melons.
