Lady Banks’ Roses are easy to grow, long-lived garden additions. Whether you choose to grow them as vines laced atop sturdy arbors or as large fountaining shrubs they will provide many years of enjoyment with minimal care once well-established. The Banksia Rose, as it is sometimes called, is basically thornless only rarely producing a cane with ‘prickles’.
It is generally evergreen down into the teens or lower. Once well-established, the Banksia Roses require very minimal care except to train the periodic wayward canes when they are being grown up arbors, trellises, and along fences. Any pruning should be done immediately after flowering. For the best flowering provide 6 or preferably 8 or more hours of direct sunlight per day.
