The Loblolly Pine is a one of the most common pine trees in the southern United States. It is often referred to as the ‘Pioneer Pine’ because it is one of the first trees to grow in a forest or open field. They grow in a variety of soils and provide important habitat for wildlife, particularly bald eagles.

Long, thin, dark green needles grow in bundles of three on the Loblolly Pine. This popular pine can be found dotting thousands of landscapes across the Houston area.
